Lead, Compensation Business Partner

We are looking for a Lead Compensation Business Partner on the HR Compensation team to support the evolution and growth of the Enterprise Sales organization. This individual will also support the Marketing team as a compensation business partner. They will provide expertise in modeling, benchmarking, plan design and analyses.
Your Responsibilities:
Lead sales compensation program work for the Upwork HR Compensation team and ensure that Upwork’s compensation programs support the company’s strategic objectives, meet legal requirements, and align with Upwork’s total rewards philosophy.
As a subject matter expert, this role will act as a strategic advisor, providing counsel on sales compensation programs, policies and practices.
Collaborate with key cross-functional teams including but not limited to Enterprise Sales, Sales Finance, Legal, Talent Acquisition and HRBPs to build, analyze and assess sales teams and their compensation
Provide recommendations to improve the sales compensation program and overall strategy
Provide ongoing analytical insights around sales compensation efficacy; recommend changes in light of business strategy.
Oversight of the monthly commission close process; provide ad hoc analytical reporting from Anaplan.
Act as the compensation business partner for the Enterprise Sales and Marketing teams
Analyze market trends and determine if adjustments are necessary
Provide education, training and communications support to internal teams
Support job family architecture work
Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date
Maintain internal systems and ensure data is accurate and up to date
Improve standardization in compensation programs as well as automation and scalability
What it takes to catch our eye:
Experience building, maintaining and assessing sales compensation programs
Experience working cross-functionally building strong relationships and collaborating between various departments
Experience supporting sales and marketing teams
The annual base salary for this position in California and Washington ranges from $110,000 - $150,000. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position in California and Washington, and individual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Additionally, this position is eligible for the annual bonus plan or sales incentive plan and eligibility to participate in our long term equity incentive program.
