Job Introduction

BBC Studios is a world-renowned content studio and channels and streaming business, powered by British creativity, with a reach that touches audiences in every corner of the globe.

With a turnover of around £1.6 billion, we aim to bring customers and audiences across the world distinctive and high-quality content covering a range of specialisms, through a unique combination of BBC editorial values, cutting edge craft, and access to diverse talent across all markets.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and motivated Procurement Manager to join our team at BBC Studios.  This would be an excellent opportunity for someone with procurement experience or someone who has had exposure to procurement frameworks and requirements and wants to further their specialism in this area.

Main Responsibilities

The Procurement Manager will report into the Senior Procurement Manager and be a key member of the team.

Primarily responsible for the management of procurement activity in the Corporate & Professional Service Categories, including Finance, HR, Insurance, Property, Workplace and Travel, the role will also involve supporting and gaining experience across all categories such as Technology and Marketing.

To achieve this, the Procurement Manager will need to work collaboratively with their assigned business areas.  The extent of the support will vary but will require taking ownership of category management, multiple sourcing projects and leading them through the procurement process from spend analysis and market evaluation through to contract award and, in some cases, contract and dispute management.

This role will be key to ensure that the business select the vendors that delivers the most suitable commercial value to BBC Studios.

Spend data analysis and reporting will make up a key function of this role to support the whole of the Procurement team, as well as contribute to the development of the overarching Procurement team strategy.

The Procurement Manager will also be an advocate of Procurement within the business, alongside responsibility for due diligence checks across the wider team, management of procurement documents, Category Action Plans, and training platforms.  Strong communication skills and styles are paramount.  In addition, with the clear sponsorship of the business owner, the Procurement Manager will be able to lead on commercial negotiations to ensure that deals represent the best commercial outcome for BBCS.

Are you the right candidate?

At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and persuade both internal stakeholders and suppliers, and to work well in a  team;
  • A Procurement background is beneficial but not essential. Experience in Project Management would be advantageous to make an immediate impact, adding to the effectiveness and operational efficiency of the team as it responds to increasing customer demand and corporate efficiencies;
  • Proven ability to work in diverse teams in a complex commercial organisation. The post holder will be required to work within broad ranging project teams, and will need to demonstrate leadership within these projects where relevant.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders in the business, at a variety of levels and across multiple regions;
  • Strong supplier management skills to ensure compliance with Procurement procedures, negotiated benefits from services and cost improvement;
  • Comfortable with leading or supporting the Procurement process by co-ordinating and drafting all required documentation including specifications, selection criteria, questionnaires, contract schedules and RFx documentation to ensure that the most appropriate supplier selection is achieved, in accordance with Policy guidelines.
